On startup the opening screen shows me the upgrade option. BUT! doesn't seem to give me a choice. How can I bypass the upgrade and continue into the sim? Just want to hang off for a while to see if the upgrade goes okay for the majority of the community. Edit: Went ahead and upgraded.

Thanks to all for your replies. Yes it is a GTX1650. So I tried dropping the resolution down in the sim graphics setting. FPS came up to 20. I'm okay with that at the moment. If I go lower in res I can get more fps. Guess I'll have to sacrifice a little bit of picture quality to get smoother movement. Maybe have to upgrade the graphics card later.

Seeing posts from people running MSFS on machines with close to same specs as mine. Some complaining about their fps getting down to around 20. MSFS seems to run okay on my laptop and thinking my machine is not a gaming type, I'm running graphics at medium setting with fps set at 30 But my fps figures are on the wrong side of 20. I'm seeing down to 4 and highest 15. (using Win+G game bar) Are the specs of my machine up to the the task? I thought they would have been. Or Am I missing something that needs doing in setting up? I struggled with this for a long time. Even using the "C:\Users\[Your User Name]\AppData\Local\Packages....", couldn't find the AppData directory. Eventually discovered that ''AppData' was a hidden folder. In file explorer right click [Your User Name], select 'Properties'at the bottom of the list. Then uncheck the 'Hidden' box in the 'General' tab.

Hi, I'm new to the forum and sort of new to flight simming. Had FS9 years ago and ran it on a PC with a joystick. But eventually ran out of enthusiasm. PC and joystick were off loaded. So to now. Went through a couple of laptops and presently have a pretty decent unit. Because of covid found I had more time at home so bought an xbox to keep myself amused. Then along comes MSFS2020. My enthusiasm returned and now have it on the laptop using the xbox controller. My intention is to get an external monitor and a joystick. But that's not going to happen for a few days. So at the moment I'm finding it a real struggle controlling my aircraft with the controller. Is anybody using an xbox controller? And have you mapped the buttons, sticks and triggers to something that is sort of comfortable to use? Finding it a real pain trying to find a way of trimming aircraft ascending, descending and level flying mainly. Grateful for any assistance. Thanks.
