  1. I have an HP Pavillion laptop, 2gb graphics card, i7 processor (can overclock to 3.9Ghz) 32Gb of Ram and solid state drive. It was up for the task of running the new MSFS 2020. (I know you're looking at FSX) And it would do GREAT. The downside, is since it's a laptop it simply doesn't have the fans and cooling to stay maxed out for that long. I couldn't get more than 30 minutes of flying in until my computer would slow itself down to prevent overheating. Depending on your graphics card your computer should definitely be up for the task of FSX, with that, I don't know how long of flights you will be able to do. They do make cooling pads and other gismos, however I got my computer to run solidworks for engineering classes and am uninstalling the flightsim so I don't kill my computer pre maturely. I hope this help you with your decision, but in short it should run fine, I just don't know for how long.
  2. I can appreciate people’s frustrations. Some of us aren’t as avid of simmers and are blown away. I stopped flying after FS2004, right around when FSX came out, and lots of people had tags on their profile saying “friends dont let friends fly fsx”. It’s just really the nature of the beast. The community is half of the sim and provides so much. Maybe we forgot what FSX was like off the shelf.
  3. Yeah, sorry. I wasn’t trying to derail the thread. I just thought it could be a bug. I’ll make my own. My textures look great except for my runways so I’m not sure what category under setting runways fall under. Just wasn’t sure if anyone else is dealing with that phenomenon.
  4. I have been flying since FS9, and I am simply blown away by the new sim. I used to be a member on here 15 some years ago when I was much younger (Pc12Pilot2003 and DaveKSan still here?!) Sure there might be some hiccups, however the platform is there and it simply seems like something from the future. I am stoked. With that said, I'm running the new MSFS on my laptop and everything looks great however my runways are pretty low resolution until I get REAL close. What parameter in the display settings would runways fall under? I'm running an i7 1065 G7CPU (2ish GHz unless overclocked), 16gb Ram (+ additional 16gb virtual from SSD) and 2GB nVidia graphics card. I don't know if I'm just out of luck but I would be 100% okay with nuking a display setting in order to be able to get my runways. Thanks guys!
