  1. MSFS2020 could use INSTANT REPLAY, about the only thing I miss from previous versions
  2. My two cents... Considering how much more realistic 2020 is, sim flying with older versions to me is like going back to sub logic. Or for those who don't remember sub logic, like going back to horse and buggy days. Just my opinion!
  3. I watched videos and grabbed some tidbits about what to enter, such as cost index etc. 1.0 was suggested for C.I. so I always put that. I'm not into the fltsim program so can't be too specific ATM. But after watching a few videos (along with help from guys like Tim) I learned a lot. And practice makes perfect. Well not PERFECT perfect, but maybe as good as it gets.
  4. I'm with Tim on this. I pulled out many of the few hairs I had left fiddling with Simbrief. With a little practice and patience, the default does what I need.
  5. Ditto! What was really annoying was an unusual female voice, kinda squeaky sounding. Not only was her voice the same from one control center, but was the same from the next control center, and from subsequent control centers. I thought, this lady really gets around.
  6. And a very perplexing issue, at least with the B-787. Make sure there are no "VECTORS" or "THEN" entries in your Flight Plan. If so, tap the DELETE key on the keypad next to the display, then tap the button adjacent to VECTOR or THEN. Also, by changing from MAP to PLAN on your NAV display, it allows you to check out the STEPS along your route from departure to arrival to see for any discontinuities.
  7. .....It's been around long enough (hopefully) to have all the bugs worked out, vs a new release..... Au contraire. One reason why we still get updates.
  8. It stinks on ice, but until the powers that be change it, I think we're stuck with it. I'd also love something similar to the old "Replay" feature. Probably won't see these and many more niceties until MSFS 2024, if then.
  9. .....Unfortunately that is not reciprocated during descent for some reason..... Maybe I had a nice FAA employee. Took me downhill the same way as the climb. Put me at 5k feet on the upwind to KLAS 26L
  10. A tad slow here also, but not as bad as some in the past. Just finished a flight from KBOI to KLAS in the 787. Noticed 2 changes. When being handed off, my co-pilot now says good-bye instead of g'day. Much nicer change is ATC giving you altitude increase and decrease figures about 2k ft before instead of 2 hundred feet.
  11. And it also allows you one free nickname or whatever else you want to call it. I remember the default one they gave me sounded like some creature from outer space.
  12. This not a GA situation but a great example of CG importance: Air Midwest Flight 5481 - Wikipedia
  13. Hi Tim. Have issues other than flightsim on my plate ATM, but yes, I have that problem on many flights. Am looking forward to trying your fix and will get back to you. Might be a day or two.
  14. Thanks a bunch Mike. Been messin' with flight sim since SUB LOGIC and I still learn something new almost daily. Gettin' ready to go try outthis new knowledge. Cheers, and take care.
  15. First, thanks for your reply Mike. For fear of sounding ignorant, where (physically) are these generator switches? Are they the ones under AC BUSES? The only others I see are the APU gens. See attached IMAGE. Just below is a section from some Boeing info concerning this: Shutdown With the park brake set, it's time to shut the engines down. A final check that the APU is indeed running is made before moving the engine control switches to shut off. Plunging the cabin into darkness isn't a smooth move. As the engines are shut down, the APU automatically takes over the power supply for the aircraft. Once the ground staff have connected the external power, we then have the option to also shut down the APU. However, before doing this, we consider the cabin environment. If there is no PCA available and it's hot outside, without the APU the cabin temperature will rise pretty quickly. In situations like this we'll wait until all the passengers are off the aircraft until we shut down the APU. Once on external power, the full flight cycle is complete. The aircraft can now be cleaned and catered, ready for the next crew to take over.
  16. Hope I can explain myself well enough here. As the title says, I'm referring to the B787 only. Does anyone know an easier routine to maintain electrical power with engines off? I've read that after exiting runway, you turn on APU. Then when aircraft is at the gate, and you want engines off, SHIFT+CTRL+F1. Only problem is, SHIFT+CTRL+F1 shuts all power down. The following works, but a few keystrokes or controller button command would be nice: Engines Shutdown Checklist Parking Brakes SET Engine Generators OFF External Power ON Engine Fuel Control CUTOFF Taxi Lights OFF Beacon Lights OFF Fuel Pump Switches OFF Seat Belt Sign OFF Heads Up Display OFF
  17. This probably belongs in SCREENSHOTS but this is the only way I know how to post. Also, there are probably much better than this.
  18. Nah! Can't say we've only had one scrooge on here but this guy was a Brit (gentleman?) and most caustic. Even if I could recall his moniker, I'd probably remember in silence for fear of being removed from this forum. I have a feeling Nels remembers him.
  19. As far back as I recall, the Mods on this forum always dealt pretty swiftly with toxic behavior. I don't remember the dude's name, but it was back before the turn of the century, around the time of Captain Slarty's membership. I remember Slarty helping me in my early days but the other dude was poisonous. Since then, it has been a real joy to belong to this forum.
  20. At present, all is well. But, Columbo (Peter Falk) use to say something about a little tidbit of something or other that bothered him and I feel the same about this. I can't remember the exact wording, but while trying to DL the new update, a little blurb in the overall black panel stated that I could install now, or get it later in the Marketplace. My question, how could I get to the Marketplace when that wasn't an option?
  21. As I'm known to some family and friends as an early Reiser (budreiser that is), I got the stalled DL from yesterday re-going at 5 a.m. CDT. It finished just shy of 9. As others mentioned above, start it and go do something else, maybe grow some crops. Now I'm trying to DL Oceania & Antartica, which Content Manager said wasn't installed but I swear it was. An 8.67 GB file. It gets as far at 5.81 GB and goes back down to 5.31. It did the same thing yesterday. Why this is happening is beyond my comprehension, but it never happened in the past. Always DL'd these updates without a prob. This stinks on ice.
  22. My DL is hung up at 100% on the MANDATORY. Says its Decompressing Kaitak Airport. I've about run out of patience but will give it Five Minutes More. That, BTW is an old Sinatra tune.
