  1. Nice flight this morning. I am always impressed by the trees in this sim, as in how they seem to be right for the region you are flying in. Not so impressed by the placement sometimes but that is another story.
  2. Dunno, i sort of like JohnnyJohnJohn's comment. The absolute best flight sim is of course the one that suits you. My own internet is a bit inconsistent which rules out multi player games/sims. (No good firing at where the enemy was is it?). Similarly I can expect some glitches in my MSFS flights BUT the quality of that scenery is just superb. My hardware/internet woes does not change that. There is Government sponsored upgrade to internet services supposed to happen in my area in November which I am hoping might make a difference to my flying.
  3. I bought mine on Steam and saved it to my 1TB external SSD drive. It works fine.
  4. My bridges in New York are all solid objects now. With or without the Samscene NY add on. I do hope a fix comes out soon for this.
  5. I liked that reply. The old saying is that you can lead a dog to water but you cannot make it drink. He says he still has his FS98 disk and manual well .... I still have my FS95 CD and I must have tried just about all the flight sims ever and can say that MSFS is the best by far. Even the upcoming (they said it would be released this month) Aerofly FS4 looks insipid besides MSFS and it has far fewer airports and scenery coverage! Add the upcoming A310 November announcement and how can anyone go anywhere else I ask!
  6. That reminded me that I still have the yet virtually unused Dovetail Flight School in my Steam inventory. I bought that and then got FS World for free and then that went belly up so I did not complete a lot of things I should have done. I think some of those planes are in MSFS so it should still be useful.
  7. I flew north from Coffs Harbour in my yellow Zin Savage Cub and saw the Big Banana! How good can this sim get I ask myself. :)
  8. Not exactly sure but I think maybe if you install the XBox game bar on your PC and log into it using your xbox details it might work?
  9. Hi, I think I read in another thread that so many complained about world update 9 (myself included) that Asobo did a patch fix to reduce the number of trees. After flying around Malta to see if the fix worked yesterday I flew around my home airfield in Australia and the trees were nearly all gone there too. After a reboot they came back though. I am not sure if that will be the case for you as it was the Italian scenery they were trying to fix.
  10. Yes I did survive SU9 relatively unscathed and I did fire up my MSFS and it works fine. I went for a flight from YPAD to YPPF in my FK-9 freeware tail dragger and it worked very well. All is good today. :)
  11. I fired up my trusty laptop this morning and it goes into update steam. Then it tells me a Windows update requires a system reboot. After that it tells me that my pin no longer works and I reset it. Then it asks me to continue setting up my Windows preferences and I also get an automatic HP BIOS update is starting. I log onto my browser and even that is being updated. Dare I now fire up MSFS????
  12. I have posted this on steam and Avsim also I doubt too many people would be as dumb as me in trying it but ..... I hope someone has figured out how to do this but the cloud based MSFS game can be played on portable devices so ...... I have a Lenovo Tab11 Yoga tablet with 8gb of ram and a lot of storage so subscribed for $1 to the Xbox game pass. I try to install the game and it says to connect a controller via bluetooth or plug in with a USB. I plugged in my PC joystick and managed to fire up the game and got into the MSFS configuration menu but no further. Has anyone else tried this and how far did you get? I was thinking of a trip to EB Games and maybe buying an Xbox controller to see if that works. After posting the above I fund this on youtube It sort of answered my own question. The exercise would not be worth it for me but it could be an option for those who have a less powerful PC or an XBox with controllers already.
  13. Alice Springs. Looks a bit dry. Wonder what it would be like in summer.
  14. Just out of interest I was wondering .... I guess things get updated according to the number of complaints/observations that users make about MSFS. Does anyone know how they actually do that. Is there a program that counts the number of posts about this and that and is it automated? Also is it only based on what is said on the official site in the support forums? I know that updates fix things and also can cause other things to stop working. Mostly they benefit us I think.
  15. If you go to Spilsby island which is near Port Lincoln you will see a shack or two on the northern side of the island. A half acre block of land is for sale overlooking the sea for $49,000 AUD ($34,666 USD). With no permanent inhabitants this would be the perfect getaway for the antisocial. Airstrip is available from flightsim.to https://www.realestate.com.au/property-residential+land-sa-port+lincoln-202508730
  16. Never seen the pink panther planes on my set up but I did see a Hello Kitty DR1 once on another sim. I must say it looked rather fetching but all a matter of taste ..... :)
  17. I have the same stick and had similar problems. I am not sure if was SU9 but it was almost unusable a week or so back. Pushing the throttle forward resulted in cutting power, a reversal of normal for no apparent reason. I did some deletion of assignments and resetting and also unplugging the stick and holding down 6 and 12 buttons whilst plugging it back in. I went into control options and assigned button 17 to reverse thrust. I found at one point that there was a real lag going on with the dials on my (external view) screen not matching my input from the stick throttle. I also tried putting it into FSX mode at one point, and I deleted my last add on (the Boeing 247D) in case that had something to do with the problem. I also deleted .cfg files from my install too. After a few days of fiddling about it seems to have settled down now. My 247D is also back in the skies and behaving itself although I confess I have set engine management to simple MSFS mode. These computer games can drive you crazy and (if isn't already) make your hair grow grey. I hope you manage to tweak your stick back to good behaviour mode. :)
  18. I have not seen one of these comparison video clips before and I was really impressed with the real life flying and camera work. With MSFS, in my opinion it would have been better if the seasons had matched a bit better so the brown earth would have shown up in both films but the features did match up perfectly. Also, I would have liked to have seen cockpit views in MSFS so we could have seen if turbulence rattled things around in the simulator as it obviously did in your real plane. Thank you for posting. :)
  19. Apologies for what must seem a silly question but when I select a season does it apply to the whole world or only to the Northern Hemisphere with the opposite season automatically going to the Southern one? I should have put my best glasses on sooner. The menu screen fine print says it applies itself to the northern hemisphere and the opposite to the southern one.
  20. Just out of curiosity I was wondering if there is any aircraft that has never been modelled in a flight simulator. I think all the ones I have seen so far have been in one or the other.
  21. I had a similar problem the other day with my throttle although it is an integrated one. I came in to land in my ultra light and I could not decrease speed! I tried other planes and found it was the same for them. I disconnected my joystick and fired up MSFS a couple of times to ensure it was not still recognised then plugged it in again. I went into control options and cleared all assignments in the throttle settings then re-did them. Touch wood it now works fine. I am assuming perhaps a recent update might be the culprit here but not sure. The only other thing I use is view tracker. I hope you soon fix your problem.
  22. Light the blue touch paper and stand well back. :) You might want to try GeoFS and then complain.
  23. Not sure why you would have problems with that set up. My Laptop is a Ryzen i5 and I have 8gb of ram plus a dual GPU set up giving me 5gb of video. I run MSFS fine with it. I run it with medium settings. I get low to mid 20's FPS which runs smoothly too. Sure my gaming desktop machine will give me a lot better but I am happy with what my laptop gives me. I do have a 500gb SSD though so maybe you should get a techie to put one in your machine. With loading times it usually depends on what you have added to the sim. Maybe go get a cup of coffee when you first fire MSFS up.
  24. With Australia I think you will need ORBX to enhance any sim you have. Drzewiecki also offer vast improvements to other parts of the world. No sim is perfect. Flightsim.to website offers hundreds of freeware and payware add ons for MSFS. Some of the freeware planes are really good.
  25. I think MSFS5.1 was my first flight sim. Lots of others through the years. Now I have MSFS on my PC, Aerofly FS2 on my laptop and GeoFS on my tablet. Variety is the spice of life. :)
