  1. I just got the Rift S and it is far better than my old CV1. I'm able to fly on medium and some high settings and the sim is doing ok. I am using an overclocked 1070Ti and it is crying about it but doing it's job. I am just flying in less densely populated areas like Alaska and the Grand Canyon and I can say that the immersion is fantastic! It truly is like actually being in a real plane! I would recommend not flying around the bigger cities with an old graphics card like mine unless you like slide shows.
  2. They are kind of hit and miss. Fly over the water out of PANC and you will see some.
  3. They will come but for now I feel you. I almost have buyer's regret for getting the "Premium Deluxe Edition" because The airliners are kind of screwed up right now. Having said that, I'm sure that with a few updates this sim will be awesome. Remember X-Plane 11.00? It sucked, but now it is a great sim. Just be patient.
  4. Ok, so just for Sh*%# and Giggles I tried the AI air traffic instead of live traffic and WOW! Yes you do get traffic and a lot of it. I was at KJLN in Joplin,Mo. and you would have thought you were at LAX only with GA aircraft! Of course you can adjust that and I did. The problem is that it severely affects you frames so use with caution. The second part of this thread is just a tip. If you want to confirm that you sim has updated you can hit ALT-ENTER to go to windowed mode and your MSFS version number will be in the top left corner of the screen. Hope this helps.
  5. I've got the autopilot down now but it took awhile. It's more like the X-Plane 11 AP than the FSX ones. The only thing that I can't seem to get to work is the speed hold. It really sucks having to manage you speed over a 3 hour flight.
  6. It's really not a Flight Sim problem, it's a Bing problem. Bing has nowhere near the photogrametry as Google Maps does and what it does have is 5 years old. The first developer that figures out how to integrate Google Maps into the sim will win the "Developer of the Year" Award! Really Microsoft needs to light a fire under Bing's butt and make them update every 6 months or so like Google.
  7. Lol, I miss hitting ctrl-Z and getting all of the info at the top of the screen.
  8. The 1000 works like it is supposed to by just hitting enter twice but the one in the non 1000 Cessna is bugged.
  9. Use https://skyvector.com/ before your flight and print out a flight plan. You can also access all ILS frequencies as well as VOR and ADF.
  10. I was thinking the same thing! I Just reloaded Teamspeak yesterday to get ready and was going to make a similar post in a few days. I have been working on some short hop flights to get ready to try to get a group together. I haven't done a multi-player flight since the FS2002 days when I was part of a group with 20 or so members called "The Flight Crew". I am free almost every weekend day or night which is good because of our 7 hour time difference. Sounds like fun!
  11. I did see somewhere that fly the Maddog is working on one for 2020. As for the stock airliners behavior, There are a series of videos on Youtube from an actual a320 pilot that says the stock 320 is quite good. Maybe the previous airliners were so dumbed down that we just think that the new ones suck lol.
  12. I have a 1070ti and it works great in 1080p but for 4K I would wait until the 3000 series cards come out later this month.
  13. Cool. Thank you! I guess I'll reinstall it. I haven't used it in awhile.
  14. There are also tons of youtube videos on the subject. I love that people are in the forums that have never owned a flight sim before! It's nice to see our community getting new blood for the first time in a long time! Welcome aboard!
  15. Ditto, ATIS says clouds but there are none. I have seen the weather be accurate in some areas while others are dead wrong. Come on August 27th update!
  16. Texture resolution simply means that the texture used is bigger and thus has more detail. It has no relationship to screen resolution. Be aware that the larger texture resolutions may impact performance.
  17. I have no stutters either on a mid range system AMD 2700x,GTX 1070Ti,32 Gigs of RAM. From what I'm hearing RAM plays a huge roll. 16 Gig doesn't seem to be enough.
  18. You can. Just bind the same "POV" commands to the exterior camera. They won't conflict with the cockpit camera.
  19. FSX only had 24,000 so Yes 2020 has far more, plus all of the little farmers private strips which aren't even counted in the 37,000. If it exists then you can fly there!
  20. I think I saw somewhere that a 737-200 was in the works from a 3rd party. I'll buy that for sure!
  21. Trees and bridges seem to be the most immersion breaking things in the game but I'm sure it will be fixed. I can live with it for now.
  22. For external panning look for these things, and I'm doing this off of the top of my head so it may not be exact but: Map "Toggle External View" to one button and "Toggle Cockpit View" to another. Use the same "POV" commands that you did in the cockpit view for the external view but this time don't worry about the "POV" Commands conflicting with the Cockpit views because they won't.
  23. Yes you can! I have this thing fully maxed and it runs smooth as silk. I am only running it in 1080p though. Here are my specs: AMD Rysen 2700x at stock speed Gigabyte Aorus X470 Gaming WiFi MB EVGA GTX 1070ti Black Edition 32 Gigs of Corsair RGB ram Asus 27" Monitor As you can see our systems are very similar. You may want to add 16 more gigs of RAM. As for the hard drive just make sure it is an SSD. The game will load your rolling cache onto your C drive but you can change that as well.
  24. Does the sim have in-built voice communication or do we have to use Teamspeak or similar programs?
  25. Isn't it nice when you don't get called stupid in a forum and actually get help? I was beginning to wonder what that was like lol.
