  1. If it isn't already, you could try setting your mouse to the default profile in the controller settings.
  2. I see you have no replies. As this forum is fairly quiet, you might get more success posting over at avsim.co. which is much busier.
  3. I borrowed one for a few days (I believe it was a Quest 2) and didn't get on with it. The resolution was poor, it was fairly jittery and stuttery and it made e feel sick. I wear verifocal glasses and that didn't help either although I know you can buy lenses to fit it. So I bought TrackIR 5 and a few months later cannot imagine flying without it. Expensive but a great addition for my flight sim.
  4. MSFS will eat anything you throw at it hardware wise and it's really a question of how much you can afford or are wiling to spend. I have a 5800X3D with an RTX3080 running at 1440 on a 2 TB Nvme drive and even that is not enough with all my addons, but I can't justify the spend on the next generation hardware at the moment.
  5. I've had this with some addon scenery folders and my suspicion is that the scenery may be using up all my video dram. Maybe if you try running the sim at a lower resolution it might indicate that to be the problem.
  6. MS & ASOBO are aware of this issue, though I have no idea if they are planning to fix it or when. Not sure if the problem is affecting everyone, but there are certainly a lot of us that are complaining.
  7. I bought a 1 TB NVME drive and wish I had bought a 2 TB one. A year later I bought a 2 TB NVMe drive and now wish I had bought a 4 TB one. If you want to use any addons you need quite a bit of storage. I have used up 1.7 TB so far.
  8. They are fine for any aircraft. They look like airbus sidesticks and are branded as such but at the end of the day, it's just a joystick and throttle quadrant.
  9. There are quite a few object libraries for various sceneries which will be 'must have' files for many depending on what airports, ect. they have downloaded. I would second puffinflight's welovevfr parts 1, 3 & 3 along with mamu's powerlines and marinas mods Of course, FSLTL will be a must for anyone who likes their airports populated with real airlines rather than the rather awful default liveries.
  10. Smooth update for me too though I'm a little underwhelmed at the moment having spent a couple of hours exploring Hawaii and Bora Bora. Maybe some of the other new areas will be better when I get around to exploring them. Sad not to see much photo scenery and no PHNL.
  11. I've experienced this phenomenon a few times in real life. Whilst turbulence is normally greater closer to the ground that is not always the case especially when a runway may be masked by hills or mountains in certain wind directions. FYI, I hear that the lastes beta has toned down the turbulence quite a lot and you will be able to adjust it it when the full update is released, hopefully in a few days.
  12. Not for me as I have it one folder deep on another drive (MSFS will not allow you to put it in the root directory). Luckily, I have 2 NVME drives as I moved the sim from my old 1TB drive to a new 2TB drive.
  13. I often do a short flight from EGTG Filton (now has houses built on it but Overripepuma has brought it back to how it was before) to EGGD Bristol (UK2000) when I'm testing. Also a quick flight across the Bristol Channel to Superspud's nice rendition of Cardiff (EGFF). EGLC London City to EGLL is a good one for testing performance in high density scenery as is Laguardia to JFK. All of the above are pretty short flights I often find myself doing in between the longer ones.
  14. Looks really good and if I didn't have the payware version, I would definitely have downloaded this. For anyone who flies in France, I would certainly take a look at simvol.org as there are some really nice airports many of which I use.
  15. You can do it this way from within the simulator, but personally, I just go to the rolling cache folder I created in windows explorer and delete it there.
  16. I was always of the view that if all reasonable attempts to contact the author were made, then I would use his work without permission whilst crediting him with the content. At the end of the day, no money is being made here so legal action would be pointless and you can always take them down if he later objects. He may well have given up on flight simulation, been ill or even died, in which case, you may be quite safe to use his work. If either Brian or you were charging for the scenery, then of course I would tread more carefully.
  17. Yeah, you have always had to switch to VLOC otherwise the aircraft will follow the GPS course, David. Once in VLOC, the aircraft can follow the course to the VOR ifs et or the ILS and glideslope. I usually set both GPS units to VLOC and make sure that the VLOC light above the panel is switched on. The autopilot behaviour has become odd though if changing altitudes in slew mode and has to be disengaged and reengaged. The GPS units have been improving overtime though I've not tried the G1000 recently. There are a few good videos on Youtube for those having trouble getting to grips with the Garmin units.
  18. After installing yesterday, I noticed today that there was a small download in the content manager to update the Garmin 430/530. May be useful for anyone who didn't notice it yesterday like me.
  19. Mandatory update is available to download now https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/aircraft-avionics-update-1-aau1-release-date-january-31-2023/572733
  20. I borrowed a Quest2 for a week and found it fiddly to put on and take off with glasses, a bit of a pain to set up and the performance and quality of textures was not grreat either. Furthermore, at times I felt quite sick (though people say you get used to it). As a result, I bought a larger 2k monitor and am considering going down the TrackIR route in the near future. The Reverb G2 is apparently a lot better, though quite expensive from what I've read. VR will improve in quality and price in time, so I will probably reconsider at some point.
  21. I've just done the same thing using macrium reflect free. I have W11 on my small 250 gb drive and msfs on my 2 tb drive. Whatever tool you use to clone the disk breaks Microsoft's encryption/security, so you may well end up having to reinstall msfs like I did. Just don't forget to backup all your addons outside of the msfs folder otherwise they will be wiped as well. Because the encryption does not allow you to do this, you need to put your addons into zip files.
  22. Can't be certain but I think most scenery has not been optimised for the latest sim update as I am experiencing the same with some especially photo sceneries. See if it looks any better using TAA or DLSS.
  23. Have you tried using F6 and F7. If that works OK, I suspect that you might have a duplicate or conflicting assignment in your controller settings
  24. Have a look at ADE fromscruffyduck software. It's a bit easier to use than the SDK
