Should you land flaps up or down in this situation

Recommended Posts

I was in a bf-110 one side of the flaps got blown off also half of the rudder.

In any event I put flaps at 100%. Well, this made the plane want to roll violently over. You can see the landing in the vid. I’m now thinking maybe it would have been a good idea to raise flaps. Anyone been in this situation before?

Without flaps, anytime you report damage... Definitely in this case!

How can you know the flaps are actually functional?

After watching this, I wouldn't be setting flaps anything. What I would be doing is cutting power, and/or feathering those props very quickly, and opening that canopy very quickly. Then, I'm jumping out and off this heap. As far as your buddy in the back firing off the machine gun goes, you might wanna radio him and let him know, I ain't in the plane anymore. See ya!
