jkb24212
I read here about the announcement of the upcoming release of FSX for June 11. What is the difference in this new release and XPLANE? I am interested in purchasing the new FSX but tried the demo version of XPLANE and wondered what is the difference and what one may offer over the other. Thanks! Founder Nels_Anderson Posted June 7, 2020 Founder Share Posted June 7, 2020 Not sure what you read, but there is no new release of FSX coming. FSX dates back to around 2006 and development on it ended long ago. X-Plane is an entirely different simulation made by a different company. If you're interested in it, go right to the source for info: http://www.x-plane.com
lnuss
He may be thinking of the FS2020 that is upcoming, probably this fall, Nels, but your answer is still the same of course -- X-Plane is not related at all. And for jkb, the new Flight Simulator, which many folks (including some of the development folks) are starting to call FS2020, is a completely new development contracted for by Microsoft, but done by a French company. Still no relationship to FSX, FS2004, or the previous Microsoft products. Larry N. As Skylab would say: Remember: Aviation is NOT an exact Science!
